Last Chinese New Year was our 10th wedding anniversary. We don’t really celebrate our anniversary but since it’s the 10th year, I thought we should at least do something special for a change. I told the Hubby right after the New Year that he better plan something that day, because I’m not letting him off the hook this time around. Well, we ended up in his hometown, in a private resort, swimming in cold water and singing our hearts out at a videoke machine. And we did it together with the kids and the in-laws. Love it!
What a Decade of Marriage Taught Me
The other day, as the Hubby was cleaning out some of our drawer, he found my old dairy. I think it was written around our first year of marriage. I quickly grab it away from him in case there’s anything he shouldn’t see and scan it myself. Reading through it, I can’t help but laughed at the silliest things that we fought about back then and how unnecessary long it took us to make up after a fight. But a decade had passed and so much had changed since then–most, for the better. Of course, nothing came easy. It took a lot of hard work and perseverance to make a marriage work no matter how much in love you both are. If you ask me what a decade of married taught me, I’ll say:
Some things are not worth fighting over. Truth be told, the Hubby and I had very little things in common. When we started living together, we found out just how much different we were and yes, we argued a LOT! But at time goes by, we learned that not every disagreement has to turn into a drama. Some can and should be let go and every now and then, one has to give in to the other. Somehow when one started to let go of the little things, there partner follows. Then you both realized that it wasn’t so bad to give in from time to time. Continue reading Lessons from a 10-Year Marriage
Before anything else, let me greet you all a Happy New Year!!! 2013 had been a great year for us that we can’t help but to look forward to a brighter 2014. I hope you are all looking forward to this new year like us. Continue reading So Many Things to Look Forward to in 2014
Wow! The Princess is now seven years old and she’s growing more and more into a lady…something her daddy wishes not to happen just yet. I, on the other hand is enjoying the fact that I can take her anywhere like my girlfriend. Given that we still can’t have a night out and cocktails, but at least I have a shopping buddy. She even enjoy going to the salon with mommy.
Just like the previous years, we spent her birthday with just the family jumping around at Fun Ranch. I thought she’ll ask for a party this year since all her friends were throwing one, but she firmly declares that she’s going to play at the Fun Ranch instead of having a party. It was a long weekend for us last week and with the Hubby finally deciding to take his much deserved time-off from work, I suggested that we go out of town. Of course, I was thinking we’ll be going around the end of the week, but we ended up going the same day (Tuesday, even before the long weekend started) I told him that I wanted to go on a trip. We absolutely had no plan. We just packed some clothes good enough to last for at least 3 days, kids’ essentials, swimwear in case we end up at the beach and a few snacks for the road. By sunset, we were driving south to the in-laws. Continue reading The Unplanned Trip to Sky Ranch
Wow! The Little Guy is now five years old and he’s so proud of himself for being a certified big boy. Well, I’m not really sure where he got the idea about being certified but he sure is doing his best to live up to his big boy claim. It’s really funny how mentioning the phrase “big boy” can work magic. Whenever h throws a tantrum or get frustrated about things not going his ways, I would simply to ask him, “Do big boys do this or that?” or “What would big boy do in this case?” and magic – crying ends and he’ll be acting like a little man all day. Cool!
His Five Years Old Milestone
Mr. Independent. The Little Guy can pretty much take care of himself without mommy…literally. He can bathe himself, brush his teeth, dress up and take care of his breakfast on his own. He likes doing things his way, so unless he says that he needs help, you have to let him be. If you help him without his permission, expect to be thanked with a big tantrum. It seems that Manila Ocean Park is a big hit for school trip this year. Both my kids school went there last month and since I joined both trips. I got to go twice. “Lucky Mommy!” according to my kids.
Honestly, Ocean Park is really close to our house (about 20 minutes away, give or take), but we never once been there since it opened in 2008. Why? Well it was expensive back then, plus I think a a baby and a toddler wouldn’t be that interested (a.k.a. Mommy and Daddy will be too busy with the baby to have fun). Now a days, the park offers reasonable packages for visitors so a lot of schools are able to make their way there.
So where did we go? For the Little Guy’s trip, we had the Deep Sea Rush package which includes a trip to the Oceanarium, Birds of Prey, Sea Lion Show, Musical Fountain Show, and the Jellies Exhibit. In the Princess’ case, we went to the newly added attraction, Seri Fantasy World. Here’s a few highlights from each the trips.
